Exploring personal purposes
In leading self class, we created a diagram before project week to see what are our interests and what field we were inspired to work in.
Before we got to this content, we had a 5 minute session of quietness to reflect back on our year:
Reflect on your year of 2017 and bring into mind one of the following:
A time when you successfully dealt with a challenge
An experience that shaped the person you are today
This exercise had given me a quiet time to think deeply about the whole year and the events that had happened to I know where to start in drawing my venn diagram of interests, needs and strengths.
We also need to keep in mind that: leadership is about:
Identifying what is important and needed
Taking purposeful action in the face of discomfort
Using diversity as a strength
Supporting others in this practice
This is how our diagram should look like at the end of the unit:
This basic diagram structure has 3 units of LOVE, SKILLS, and NEEDs. This is a perfect combination for us to guide us to know what to do in the future because it serves all purposes that make our job more happy and enjoyable. This is also a very necessary tool when it comes to project week.
A more advanced version of the diagram looks something like this:
